Is Dental Bonding for Everyone?

Is Dental Bonding for Everyone?Dental bonding is a simple procedure where composite resin is applied to a damaged tooth before bonding to the tooth structure. The resin is shaped to match the length and structure of the surrounding teeth, and in most cases, the difference between normal teeth and bonded teeth is hard to distinguish.

While dental bonding isn't for everyone, there are many cases in which this simple restoration can dramatically improve the appearance of your smile.

Dental Bonding is for Fixing Small Gaps

Dental bonding is a popular way to correct small gaps located between the front teeth. Unfortunately, not everyone will be able to use dental bonding for filling in gaps, as the treatment works best on patients with small gaps and teeth that are relatively aligned, even, and straight. Larger spaces or greater orthodontic issues may require braces or some other type of restoration to correct.

Other Uses of Dental Bonding

Dental bonding is a minimally invasive procedure, so it is ideal for many different types of smiles. Unlike some dental procedures, you don't need a large amount of natural enamel removed before the bonding is placed. In fact, bonding is a great way for people with minor oral cosmetic issues to beautify and strengthen their smile in a single visit.

In addition to gaps, dental bonding has many other uses. It can be useful in the treatment of small chips and cracks, and can also help to make teeth look longer. If you've suffered from gum disease and recession, composite resin can be placed over the tooth roots to protect them as you continue through gum disease treatment. Additionally, dental bonding can cover up stains, leaving you with a healthy, beautiful smile.
