Sparkling Water

Sparkling water is water that has had carbon dioxide bubbles added to it. This causes the water to taste a little different. Many people have been drinking sparkling water (also called seltzer water) for years, especially along the East Coast. People also drink sparkling water to help their fluid intake, since sparkling water can usually be counted as a part of your overall intake.

All that being said, there are certain types of sparkling water that are better for you than others. In general sparkling water is good for you. Naturally flavored sparkling water is good for you, but you will need to be careful how it is flavored. Many types of sparkling water have citrus added to it, which can break your teeth down over time, so be careful not to drink too much.

Also, if you are drinking sparkling water flavored with sweetener, you are wasting your time. You might as well be drinking sugary drinks. Be sure that the sparkling water you are drinking is naturally flavored, without added sugar to get the maximum benefit, without added calories or added sugar to help those cavities grow.

If you have questions about how sugar can affect your overall oral health, or you want to talk to someone about sparkling water and its health benefits, why not give us a call? We would love to talk to you about all your oral health needs.
