How Sleeping on an Incline After Dental Procedures Can Help Speed HealingIf you just had a dental procedure, it is important that you sleep on an incline to not only help with healing but help with comfort. Oral surgery and other procedures can be something that need to be done for various reasons.

Whatever those reasons are, make sure to follow the instructions given by our dental professionals when you leave, including sleeping on an incline for better and faster healing times after the procedure.

Helps with Swelling and Bleeding

If you keep your head higher than the rest of your body, this will slow circulation to that area down a bit, giving your gums and mouth time to heal. This also helps to slow down bleeding and give you time to rest and recover after the procedure. It is also important that you get enough rest. Keeping your head elevated and keeping relaxed while recovering is important for the healing process.

Swelling is going to go down when you keep your head elevated, which also helps to reduce pain that comes from the swelling.

Helps with Many Other Things
Throbbing and pain are not something that is likely to happen when you have gravity working for you. Sleeping propped up can help with this. You can enjoy a better night's sleep when choosing to sleep propped up. Lay in a recliner or propped up on the couch with cushions, or even in bed with many. It is important that this is something that you do for at least 72 hours to help with the healing process.

If you find that you are having any issues or if you have questions after your dental procedure, give our office a call. We can make sure that you have the answers you need and the comfort you seek. We are always here to help.
